
Guidelines for Recycling Hazardous Waste
All Convenience Centers accept the following items:
• Electronic Recycling
Televisions, computers, keyboards, etc.
• White Goods and Metals
Major appliances—washers, dryers, refrigerators, water heaters, dishwashers, freezers, bicycles
Scrap metal, sheet metal, lawn mowers (must be free of gas and oil)
Dogget Road Recycling Center accepts the following items:
• Batteries
Lithium ion, alkaline, car batteries, etc.
• Electronics
Including televisions, computers, radios, clocks, etc.
• Household hazardous waste
Liquid waste (latex and oil paint, pesticides, anti-freeze, old fuel (gasoline, diesel and kerosene etc.)
Fluorescent tubes and Aerosol cans
• Used Motor Oil and Oil Filters
• Used Tires
(tires accepted with or without rims on them; they must be neatly stacked in the trailer provided for their disposal.)
Ashe County Landfill accepts all types of materials (fees may apply) except as noted below.
Materials must be sorted according to applicable categories and placed in the appropriate location
• Solid Waste
All household, commerical, and industrial waste (must be placed in sutitle D landfill)
• LCID
Clean wood, dirt, brick concrete, brush, limbs, etc.
• Metals and White Goods
Scrap metal, sheet metal, lawn mowers (must be free of gas and oil)
Major appliances including washer, dryers, refrigerators, water heaters, dishwashers, freezers, bicycles
• Dead Stock
All animals including cows, goats, horses, etc.
The following items are not accepted at the Landfill:
• Liquid Waste
Paint, insecticides, etc.
• Hazardous Waste
• Toxic Waste
Ashe County Landfill is located at 739 Fred Pugh Rd, Crumpler
North Carolina State Law requires all loads are to be tarped in transport to Disposal Facilities
